Welcome to Northumbria Postgraduates. We've organised a week of activities to help you meet your fellow postgrads:

Monday 7th October

Doctoral Dilemmas – 11am-3pm, Training Room 1

Doctoral Dilemmas is a space where PGR students come together, discuss their research, explore common challenges and identify solutions. Come meet and mingle with your fellow Postgrads and grab a slice of pizza!

Tuesday 8th October

Quayside walk and Lunch - 11.30am @ SU Welcome Desk

We'll take you on a leisurely stroll through Newcastle ending up around the Quayside, where we will find a nice affordable eatery for lunch.

Wednesday 9th October

Wellbeing Wednesday – 11am @  Reds Bar

PHD Student Stephen Thirkle will talk you through the techniques and benefits of Heartmath which is a breathing technique that aids relaxation and support good study habits. 

 

Dog Café Visit - 1pm & 2pm @ SU Welcome Desk 

Dog & Scone Café Visit, 1pm-2pm & 2pm-3pm. 20 spaces available, please book via email to paddy.rathbone@northumbria.ac.uk. First come first served, please be aware that a £3.20 fee will be payable at the venue.

Thursday 10th October

Day Trip to Alnwick Castle - 9am-6pm @ CCE Turning Circle

One of the North's best castles! Limited spaces £20, please sign up and pay at the SU Welcome Desk

Friday 11th October

International PGR’s talk with Peter Kruithof (PHD Student) - 4pm @ Training Room 1

Join us as Peter Kruithof and Rana Shan talk about all things related to being a PGR International student.

 

Night out – Meet @ Habita 7pm

We'll start out in Habita and hit up some fantastic spots across town!

Saturday 12th October

Tynemouth Market trip, meet at SU 10am to walk to Metro (£5.20 Metro ticket required)

Situated in a restored Victorian station, with over 100 stalls, Tynemouth Market has food, wares ad everything in between! 

Sunday 13th October

Sunday Roast @ the Holy Hobo. 

Meet @ 12.15pm at the SU Welcome Desk or 12.30pm at the Holy Hobo, lunch is £9.95 for the meat eaters and £8.95 for the veggies (payable at the venue)
