Each month we like to celebrate the hard work your reps put into representing your acadmenic and personal interests; after all we're led by students and we want to work with you to ensure you're having the best possible time here at Northumbria!

Huge Congratulations to one of our Equality Reps - Lily-Rose Lenton who has won February Rep of the Month, you have won £20 worth of Habita vouchers!

The Academic Registry team at the University had a policy that the legal first name had to be on the ID card issued to students, making Trans and Non-Binary students uncomfortable to use their ID afraid of questioning, confusion and confrontation.

Lily-Rose has worked extremely hard over the past year to get this policy changed and can now confirm that the student ID cards now display the students’ preferred name rather than their legal name.

This is a key moment in ensuring proper recognition for Trans and Non-Binary students as it means that students’ who have not legally changed their name or International students who have taking an English name can now be identified correctly when accessing support around university!

If you’ve been inspired by Lily or any other rep REMEMBER you can apply to be a Department Rep – email here
