Congratulations for our February Rep of the month, Chloe Robson!
Chloe is our Disabled Students’ Representative and she has been working hard this month to address accessibility and inclusion issues at Coach Lane Campus and on Open Days, as well as supporting NSU to do more to work with society and project leaders to create the most inclusive environment we can.
In terms of accessibility, Chloe has persuaded the University to install more height-adjustable desks at Coach Lane Campus East, and to install a specialised Evacuation chair for the spiral staircase there. This makes classrooms more accessible as well as creating a safer campus for wheelchair users.
Working on Open Days, Chloe has been in discussions with Student Support and Wellbeing to make sure they provide contact cards for their crucial support services, so potential students can make initial contact with these services as soon as possible to discuss any queries they may have.
Chloe is currently working with our officers and staff to design accessibility training for societies and volunteering projects, helping us to support our student leaders so the activities we provide can become more accessible to everyone, especially students with disabilities.
Chloe is challenging herself to grow as a rep and leader, and attended a National Union of Students’ political education conference. She’ll also be representing us in the upcoming NUS Disabled Students’ Campaign Conference.
Well done Chloe – and keep up the good work!
