Here at NSU we’re already looking ahead to Freshers’ Week 2018 and are looking for Freshers’ Team Leaders.

The role of a Leader is to coordinate and motivate your team of volunteers in welcoming new students to Northumbria, looking after their welfare and helping them to settle into university life. You will also be integral in facilitating communication between the Committee, Vice President Activities and Sabbatical Team, Freshers Team, Halls Managers and Union staff, ensuring that the Team works together, and provides an outstanding Freshers’ Week for all newly arrived students.

Other duties include;

  • Recruiting students to Freshers Team 2018
  • Promoting the opportunities, services and events of NSU to newly arrived students
  • Organising and leading a team of volunteers through the Halls Move in days, welcoming new students to Northumbria and liaising with parents, University and NSU staff
  • Attending daytime and evening entertainments, providing pastoral help/support and showing Freshers how to party!

Freshers Week 2018, including training days and Halls Move Ins, runs from Wednesday 19th to Saturday 29th September 2018. Whilst Team Leaders are not expected to attend all events on all days, availability throughout the majority of this period is required. The training days and Halls Move In days are essential for all Team Leaders.

All Team Leaders receive a FREE Freshers wristband, oodles of free food, drink and clothing, bags of leadership experience, a seriously boosted CV, new friends for life and a warm fuzzy feeling from helping other people
