About Us

The Legal History Society was founded in 2015 and has developed into a fun and interesting society ever since. We organise a range of events for our members throughout the year including guest speakers and socials such as bar crawls. The society aims to create a sense of community, in which you will be able to make new friends and expand your knoledge beyond the university curriculam.

Last year, the committee organised a trip to London to further develop member’s knowledge of the legal system and history. This society can appeal and be beneficial to a range of courses and disciplines e.g. history, law, sociology, policing etc. Although we are a law-based society we welcome people from all disciplines, including History, Sociology and Criminology. Therefore if you are interested, please come along to an event or social as you are more than welcome!

As well as providing a fun calendar of events for our members, the society also aims to develop valuable skills and provide a support network for members during their time at university.

This year we aim to further develop the society by organising more socials, including a Halloween Bar Crawl. We have many events planned, which feature guest speakers and we are also planning some trips within the region in order to showcase the North-East's legal history.

We welcome anyone who has an interest in, or wants to find out more, about the history of our law in the UK. To keep up to date with news and events join our social media pages or feel free to contact our committee on the email below with any questions you may have.
