Due to the current University IT issues, we are unable to process memberships and payments in the usual way. In the meantime, you can sign-up to any society for FREE at https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/nsusocietymemberships.
This gives you the chance to attend taster sessions for any of the groups which interest you. Once the membership system is working, we will inform students and set a deadline for the purchase of society memberships should you still wish to be involved and receive the benefits of membership.
Please note the Virtual Fair from Weds 23rd required you to use a gmail account to log in and see what societies and sports clubs have to offer but you can use any email account to sign up to NSU societies through our website.
Please do not purchase memberships through guest accounts or if your normal log in works [for returning students]. We cannot be certain all information will pull through our system as it normally would and this may lead to issues later in the term.
Do you want to explore your new city and help fellow students find the hottest places in Newcastle? Do you want to help your friends get used to life with us? Do you want experience in journalism regardless of if you want a career in it or not? Do you want to make new friends? Then this is the society for you!
As a contributor, you’ll create a thriving online magazine designed for Northumbria students. You can cover anything that adds to your student life. You could promote life at university. You could explore Newcastle to review the latest restaurants, shops and hotspots. If you prefer binge-watching Netflix instead of going out, you could cover movies, TV shows and music. If you’re into sports, feel free to write all about it! You could write articles on health/wellbeing, share a little bit about yourselves and promote causes/projects important to you. We also want Coach Lane students to share their experiences on our sister campus!
You’ll experience a low-pressure approach to journalism, where you can contribute articles and save your drafts on the website to edit them when you want to. You also have flexibility with how often you contribute. We're also organising socials and journalism-related events within social distancing rules so you can still have fun.
We provide the tools and the opportunity to make a difference to the lives of students, so what are you waiting for?
