Keeping active is more important now than ever – and it’s a great way to get connected with other Northumbrians too. 

Not only will taking part in activity help keep you physically healthy but it will have such a positive impact on your mental wellbeing too. Northumbria Sport has put together a wide variety of both ‘in-person’ and ‘online’ activities for you to get involved with, so whether you are on campus or at home then you can get active with us.

If you’re on campus and not experiencing any covid symptoms, why not get involved in some face-face (distanced of course) activities? All our sport and fitness sessions strictly follow National Governing Body guidelines as well as local and national guidance.

Our FREE Social Sport programme is a great way to meet new people or get your household together and have some fun! It offers the opportunity to try a variety of sports and activities to help keep you active without the commitment of buying a club or fitness membership!

Household SPORT … It’s FREE!                                                   

Household Sport is specifically designed for students living under one roof! Gather your flat mates (Maximum of 5+You!), choose a timeslot and an activity, get it booked in and enjoy! You can choose from Basketball, Cricket, Dodgeball, Table Tennis, Netball and Badminton


Sports Clubs

There are still opportunities available to be a part of a club! A range of our clubs are still accepting new members including; American Football, Golf Development, Rowing,  Swimming, Hockey, Lacrosse, Powerlifting and Weightlifting. Our activity is delivered within local and national guidelines as well as in line with the specific sport National Governing Body.

Apply for one of our Leadership and Volunteer opportunities today and gain valuable experience, develop your employability skills and have some fun! Working with industry professionals you can make a difference across campus, with National Governing Bodies of Sport and external organisations within the community!

Home Workouts                                                                                                  

Our Sport Central Fitness Instructors bring you a selection of workouts that you can do in the comfort of your own room… living room, kitchen, yard etc! Our YouTube workouts include all sorts from Pilates, Les Mills GRIT, Body Pump and LOADS of bodyweight HIIT style sessions that require NO equipment 


Sport Club S&C Sessions

Exactly what it says on the tin! A 45-minute S&C session with Head of Strength & Conditioning, Joel Brannigan for students involved in our sports clubs or anyone who fancies getting involved! 

The session will either be LIVE on Instagram or posted to Instagram TV every Wednesday

Monday Challenge  

Check our Northumbria Sport social media platforms at 11am every Monday for the new Northumbria Sport Weekly challenge.  

Make sure you tag one of our social media pages when completing the challenge to stand a chance of winning one of our Northumbria Sport Prizes.  

Strava Running Community 

Enjoy running? Or never ran before? Don’t worry, our Strava running group is open to all abilities and is a great way for you to be part of a community whilst keeping active. Look out for different challenges uploaded every Wednesday and Saturday.
