Keeping active is more important now than ever – and it’s a great way to get connected with other Northumbrians too. 

Not only will taking part in activity help keep you physically healthy but it will have such a positive impact on your mental wellbeing too. Northumbria Sport has put together a wide variety of activities for you to get involved with, so you can get active with us.

NORTHUMBRIA SPORT

Northumbria Sport: Big Box of Sport 

Northumbria Sport are delighted to introduce the ‘Big Box of Sport’ to the Social Sport programme. This fantastic opportunity gives students in halls of residence the chance to loan Northumbria Sport equipment free of charge. We have teamed up with Sodexo to bring students a range of equipment including Cricket sets, Netballs, Rugby balls and much more. All equipment will be following strict COVID-19 protocols including equipment being cleaned before and after use, and equipment having a incubation period of 48 hours after use. 

Students should utilise equipment in parks and large green spaces where it possible to social distance. All Students who hire equipment will be required to follow all government restrictions and the additional guidance produced by Northumbria Sport which can be accessed through the booking form below, students are also not permitted to use equipment inside there halls of residence. 

The Programme is available for the following halls of residence:

  • Glenamara House 
  • Trinity Square 
  • Claude Gibb 
  • Lovaine Hall

Our Sport Central Fitness Instructors bring you a selection of workouts that you can do in the comfort of your own room… living room, kitchen, yard etc! Our YouTube workouts include all sorts from Pilates, Les Mills GRIT, Body Pump and LOADS of bodyweight HIIT style sessions that require NO equipment. We will also be posting workouts onto our Instagram keep an eye on there too!

Sport Club S&C Sessions

Exactly what it says on the tin! A 45-minute S&C session with Head of Strength & Conditioning, Joel Brannigan for students involved in our sports clubs or anyone who fancies getting involved! 

The session will either be LIVE on Instagram or posted to Instagram TV every Wednesday

Strava Running Community 

Enjoy running? Or never ran before? Don’t worry, our Strava running group is open to all abilities and is a great way for you to be part of a community whilst keeping active. Look out for different challenges uploaded every Wednesday and Saturday. 

You can also upload your own favourite running routes in share with others around campus! Join us now
